With our educational gatherings this year, we are addressing Child, Adolescent and Young Adult Mental Health. This meeting will focus on Social Media and Technology.

About the Speakers

One of our speakers will be Peggy Scallon, MD, DFAPA, DFAACAP from Rogers Behavioral Health She will present on the Mental Health implications of screen use for youth.

Peggy Scallon, MD, DFAPA, DFAACAP, is a board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist who serves as the medical director of Focus Depression Recovery Adolescent Residential Care at Rogers Behavioral Health in Oconomowoc. Additionally, she is senior medical director for Rogers’ Oconomowoc campus.

Presentation:

⦿Review what kids need to be healthy and what parents need to do to prepare them for adulthood
⦿Discuss the impact of screen time on children’s mental health including a video interview from an expert in the field
⦿Review current mental health trends in pediatrics.
⦿Discuss recommendations
⦿Finish with discussion and Q&A

Olivia Cross-Luster (she, her) recently graduated from Wisconsin Virtual Academy middle school. In the fall she will be attending Pius XI Catholic High School in Milwaukee, WI. She currently works for PATCH (Providers and Teens Communicating for Health) as a Youth Advocating. Entering her third year with PATCH she will begin a new position as a teen educator. While at PATCH she has worked with topics centered around mental health, self-advocacy, community awareness, and social connectedness. In the future she hopes to become a medical professional.

Olivia will share her perspective of being a youth who has grown up with social media and technology.
